Sydney FC call Parramatta stadium home
Parramatta Stadium will be painted a different shade of blue on Sunday 7 February when Sydney FC take to the field in their crucial Round 26 Hyundai A-League clash against the Perth Glory.
The Sky Blue faithful will descend on Parramatta Stadium for just the third time in the club’s history and are calling all football fans in the area to get behind Sydney FC’s push for a second Hyundai A-League title.
Fans are strongly encouraged to pre-purchase their tickets from just $20 at Ticketek on 132 849 or www.ticketek.com.au
“This is an outstanding opportunity for Sydney FC to showcase our brand and show the people of Western Sydney what we stand for,” CEO Edwin Lugt said. “A lot of our members and supporters live in the area so to bring the Hyundai A-League and Sydney FC to their doorstep will make for a special evening.
“It is a great chance for the greater Western Sydney community to see likes of John Aloisi, Alex Brosque, Steve Corica and Simon Colosimo in action very close to home. The Cove, our members and supporters are excited about the game and we are expecting a big crowd which will make for an atmosphere that only football can provide. The Parramatta Stadium Trust has made everything that goes with holding an event such as this very simple.”
After a successful preseason campaign that saw the club play more than a dozen games throughout New South Wales, the match at Parramatta Stadium is a great opportunity for Sydney FC to engage with the wider Sydney community.
“We had two, three, four thousand fans turn up to our preseason games in suburbs like Campbelltown, Bankstown, Manly and Wollongong to name a few. Sydney FC has supporters right across the state,” Lugt said.
Blacktown fans disappointed as NSW loses close baseball final series
As reported previously, baseball fans had seen NSW defeat South Australia by 2 games to 1 at Blacktown in the Claxton Shield preliminary rounds during December. SA won the first 7 - 2, then NSW fought back to win the remaining two games 2 - 1 and 6 – 5. With NSW finishing third in the preliminary rounds and South Australia second these teams met again in Adelaide from January 29 - 30 in the preliminary final series.
As expected the final series was another very close contest. Unfortunately, after winning the first game against South Australia, NSW lost the next two narrowly to miss out on qualifying for the Shield finale against Victoria.
